My story

Despite being an active child, like many teens of the 90s I wanted to be skinny.  Around that time calorie counting diets were the norm, and this quickly became the basis of all my food decisions. The exercises that I enjoyed doing became another tool for weight loss, and this deprivation mindset ……

Once I hit my twenties at university I suffered with my first diagnosed bout of depression.  And over the next few years I would fuel that with alcohol, cigarettes and junk food as I entered my first sales job.  I was unhappy and felt powerless.  Then as I started watching a new TV programme, “You Are What You Eat” totally opened my eyes to a whole new perspective.  I became fascinated with the concept of what food and its nutrients could do for you! No more trying to eat as little as possible.

This interest continued to develop and so I went back to university to study for my Nutritional Therapy degree.  At this time my attitude towards exercise also started to shift. After years of being interested, I finally took up martial arts, starting with kung fu, then moving onto Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts.  The focus on learning skills, confidence and discovering what my body could do was incredible!  My mental health improved and my body transformed.

But then injury almost ruined my new found physical transformation!  This threw me, but I was determined not to be defeated.  During my post surgery time away from the martial art mats, I embarked on my personal training diploma, and then yoga.  As I build my strength and fitness back, I had to redirect and find different physical activities.  After a period of trail running, I started pole fitness and climbing when I turned 40.

I am so motivated by discovering what my body is capable of and the confidence that brings and radiates into other areas of life.

My qualifications, skills, personal body transformation and client experience has driven my mission became to empower women to unleash this body confidence from the inside out!
